RESERVOIR HOGS
The Hogs birth was back in 1997 when founder members Alan Cumin, Neil Berry and Simon Lambert formed a small gig band and called it Hedgehogs aren't Flat ( i think!!), and proceeded to play local pubs that we all knew. Alan (bass and vocals) knew the circuit well as this was his profession so we had a good gigging foundation from the very start. A few years passed with the same roll call and then Alan moved to Rhythm guitar and we were joined by Bass player Paul Coles. We continued to gig the local circuit every now and again and built up our catalogue of popular rock classics. We were dragged kicking and screaming into the new millenium when disaster struck in the April of 2000. Alan or Big Al as he was best known suddenly passed away. A very popular local music regular who is sorely missed by all. We stayed as a three peice ie Neil Berry - guitar & vocals - Paul Coles - Bass - and Simon Lambert - Drums and vocals and at this point the band changed it's name to 'The Hedgehogs'. I can't really remember how long this line up lasted before we recruited an American singer called Ingrid and we started to write some original material which we eventually recorded and put on a CD. We did a couple of shows where we aired the new material but eventually Ingrid moved on for personal reasons and we were back to just the three of us...a big thank you to Ingrid and her valuble involvment. We went back to a four piece for a little while when Chris a friend of Neil's joined us on Lead/Rhythm guitar, he did a couple of shows with us before moving to London to find fame and fortune!!!!. I believe it was the August of 2002 that Neil decided to find fresher grass to chew on and moved on to form his own project which I believe he is still doing somewhere - a great guitar player who I enjoyed working with. Thus the search was on to find a new guitar player which ended under a rock and Tim 'spread' Henley jumped into the seat and has sat there ever since!!!. By this time the band name had been abbreviated to 'The Hogs'.
We were then joined by singer Hellen Dann and we continued to gig broadening our horizons by doing shows to new people in new places. Hellen stayed with us for several months before moving on so a big thank you to her for everything she did.
We were joined by Sticky (Nikki Murphy) at the end of 2002 and did our first show with her in the January of 2003. It was at this point that we adopted the new band name Reservoir Hogs. During 2003 we recorded our first demo in Bath, which you can hear on this website in the audio section. The CD was titled 'pigs can fly' and included some of our favourite songs. We continued to gig local venues for the next two years doing weddings, pubs and some outdoor shows of which pictures can be seen in our gallery section on the website. The line up during this time was Tim Henley - guitars, Paul Coles - Bass, Simon Lambert - Drums and Vocals and Nikki Murphy - Vocals. We entered 2005 continuing with shows in Corsham, Iron Acton, Devizes and Acton Turville. During this period Paul Coles departed from the band to play pastures new and team up with our past guitar player Neil Berry, we thank Paul for his valuable contribution to the hogs during his time on Bass. This left one remaining original member from the very first line-up, drummer/vocalist Simon Lambert. We recruited new bass player Jez and shortly afterwards said goodbye to Nikki Murphy who left for pastures new and we wish her all the best for the future.
During October/November we held auditions for a new vocalist which ended with a young lady called Charley being chosen for the hot seat. So as we go into 2006 the line up is as you see it now on this website and we are all looking forward to getting out and playing as a unit again and hopefully meet some of you out there somewhere.
All the best.
Reservoir Hogs.
